Book of Azrael by Amber V. Nicole
A millennium ago, Dianna sacrificed everything in Eoria’s deserts to save her dying sister, unknowingly summoning a nightmare worse than any monster. Now, she obeys Kaden’s every command, even if it means stealing a relic from the creatures that relentlessly pursue her.
A Forgotten King.
Once known as Samkiel in the old world and Liam in the new, he is the World Ender. A legend to foes, a savior to followers. After the devastating Gods War, he hid from the world, abandoning his duties and leaving his people to cope with the ruins of their homeland. But when an attack threatens his loved ones, he’s forced back to a realm he swore never to revisit. Facing an ancient enemy he believed long imprisoned.
An Unlikely Alliance.
Ancient foes must now unite, setting aside their differences to save their world and all realms intertwined with it.
What We Thought
The Book of Azrael is an urban fantasy with post-apocalyptic vibes set in a high fantasy world unlike our own. It follows Dianna, an immortal akin to a vampire (though she’d despise the comparison). Who’s bound to serve the king of monsters. Her fate changes when she encounters the World Ender, Samkiel, who goes by Liam.
The story captivated me with its rich world-building, vividly described gods and monsters, and the intriguing dynamics between Dianna and Liam. A standout aspect was the mental health representation. Dianna’s support for Liam, helping him manage his panic and destructive magic, added depth and realism to their characters. It was heartening to see a fantasy hero who isn’t always in control and the compassionate way Dianna aided him.
If you’re into morally gray, complex characters and high-stakes, captivating plot lines, this book is a must-read. It’s a slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers fantasy romance featuring incredibly stubborn, prideful, and flawed characters. Despite their monstrous tendencies, understanding their histories and motivations will make you respect and love them. The romance unfolds gradually throughout the novel, but it’s worth every moment.
Zodiac Academy By Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti
I’m a Gemini—impulsive, curious, headstrong, and a twin. Turns out, I’m also Fae and heir to a throne I know nothing about. To claim my birthright, I have to prove I’m the most powerful supernatural in Solaria. Easier said than done, as every Fae in the kingdom wants my throne.
The school I’m sent to is a mix of danger and wild partying. Vampires bite weaker students, werewolves have full moon orgies in the Wailing Wood, and Sirens manipulate emotions in twisted ways. My Cardinal Magic teacher’s detentions require therapy afterward. Surviving classes is a feat in itself.
My Gemini star sign now determines my elemental magic and destiny, making astrology a crucial subject. Beating down classmates is not only allowed but encouraged.
The biggest challenge? A drool-worthy Dragon shifter and his three psycho friends who want to make my life hell and claim my throne. All I have to do is survive, but fate might have other plans.
Why couldn’t I have just gotten a letter to Hogwarts?

Raised in a world where money and power reign supreme, my life was forever altered when tragedy struck my family, proving we weren’t untouchable. In the midst of despair, I was shown the depths of hell—until he arrived. The devil in disguise saved me, but at a cost, for nothing is free when a soul is at stake.
Easton Bradley Sinnett, known as Sin, wields his power for his twisted pleasures, typical of a Lord. Growing up obsessed with him, I craved him despite realizing he wasn’t who I thought he was. Yet, this only deepened my infatuation. Sin flipped my life upside down, and I thanked him by serving on my knees, even as he wrecked me in the worst way.
Men like Sin never stay with women like me—we’re used, not kept. When he discarded me, it shouldn’t have been a surprise. My body craved the darker side of love, the kind that leaves bruises and scars. Despite knowing the unholy nature of my desires, I was determined to show the devil just how devoted I could be when he whispered that he loved me.
