Through words, I share the kind of stories that stay
For readers who love fiction that lingers

Have you read any of Lyla Sage’s books? Which one Have you read any of Lyla Sage’s books?
Which one found you first… and which one is still haunting you in the sweetest way?

Soul Searching was my first Lyla Sage novel, and hopefully, it won't be my last. What other Lyla Sage novels should I add to my 2026 TBR?

Collins Cartwright walks back into Sweetwater Peak with a suitcase full of secrets. She lost her job, doesn't have any money, and the ghosts who used to comfort her suddenly refused to speak. And honestly? Haven’t we all had a season where everything we thought we could rely on went silent?

Then there’s Brady. The man who swears he’s “totally fine” (even though absolutely nothing about him says fine). The kind of quiet, careful character who looks like he could hold your heartbreak without dropping a single piece.

And when the universe (or maybe the ghosts) pushes these two into proximity, something soft begins to shift. Something tender. Something that makes you wonder if the home you’ve been avoiding might actually be the place you need to heal.

If you love small-town romance, grumpy/soft dynamics, found family, slow-blooming tension, or a touch of ghostly meddling, this one will feel like someone reaching for your hand in the dark.

So tell me…
Which Lyla Sage story has stayed with you?
And if you’re new to her books, what kind of romance are you craving next?

✨ Save this post if Soul Searching is on your 2026 TBR.

Reading is falling in love again and again. That Reading is falling in love again and again.

That tiny ache in your chest when a character feels something you recognize...
That's real.

Fun fact: when you read, your brain fires in the same way it does when you live the moment. Which means every heartbreak, every reunion, every whispered confession on the page...
Your body believes it's happening to you.

Maybe that's why reading feels like coming home.
Like choosing live in a thousand different forms.
Like being changed by people who technically don't exist....but somehow still see you.

Tell me....what book made you fall in love this year?

What's your favorite duology?

Daughter of the Monn Goddess was pure magic. Luminous prose, immortal longing, and moonlight soaked love.

But somehow, Heart of the Sun Warrior pulled me in deeper.

I didn't expect to love it more than Daughter of the Moon Goddess, but here we are.

This sequel is sharper, heavier, and overflowing with emotional stakes that cut right to the bone. It deepens everything I thought I knew about the Celestial Kingdom Duology. The courts, the secrets, the fragile magic holding everything together.

Xingyin’s journey feels so much more intimate here.
She’s forced to face the grief she buried, the trust she lost, and the forgiveness she never thought she’d give. And the world? It expands in breathtaking ways. Shadowed courts, glittering kingdoms, and alliances that can turn dangerous in one heartbeat.

And listen… the love triangle?
The tension between Liwei and Wenzhi becomes its own battlefield. It’s tender, painful, and deliciously complicated in all the best ways. Watching Xingyin navigate love, betrayal, and longing felt like watching someone grow, break, and rise again.

By the end, I was gutted.
Changed a little.
And completely consumed.

If you love Chinese mythology, emotional fantasy, beautifully built worlds, and heroines who fight with their whole heart… this duology belongs on your shelf.

✨ Have you read this one yet, and who are you choosing? Liwei or Wenzhi?
(I won’t judge your answer… but I am watching 👀)

Have you read a book that throws off your plans fo Have you read a book that throws off your plans for future reading?

Because that's what Broken Ties is currently doing to me. I am behind on my reading, and I'm deep within this book... but there is this ache to reread The Bonds That Tie.

Again.
Fourth time.
Second reread of the year.

But no matter how many times I read and reread, it still feels like coming home to characters that won't let me go.

There's this pull in my chest (you know the one) whispering my reading year won't be complete without jumping straight back into this world and starting from the beginning, but this time annotating it.

So tell me...should I throw caution to the wind🌬, give in, and start Broken Bonds?

Because honestly, this series sits firmly in my Top 5. And the mood reading urge is LOUD 🗣

Where's your favorite place to read? Because toda Where's your favorite place to read?

Because today I'm curling up with The Bookshop Below, and it's already feeling like I'm slipping into a world where ink has teeth and bookshops have their own rules.

Here's the vibe: a magical bookshop full of dangerous bargains and deadly ink magic, a mentor who dies under mysterious circumstances, and Cassandra has to claim it back. There are stolen books, wealthy playboys with too much money, rival owners lurking in the shadows, and a regrettably handsome bookseller she keeps running into at exactly the wrong time.

And somewhere out there? A murderer who knows more about magical bookshops than they should.

You might like this if you love:
✨️magical bookshops
✨️ink magic + dangerous bargains
✨️fantast with a murder mystery thread
✨️morally messy characters
✨️dark eyed, complicated booksellers

Now tell me: what would your magical bookshop specialize in?
and drop a 📚 if you love fantasy storues with a little dangerous tucked between the pages.

🗡 Too Old for This mini Review by Samantha Downing 🗡 Too Old for This mini Review by Samantha Downing 🗡

Have you ever read a book and feel yourself slowly... slipping out of it?
Not because it's bad, but because something in the story loses its spark, and you just can't seem to get it back?

That was Too Old for This for me.

It started with this sharp, wicked little premise, a retired serial killer trying to fade into the background, only to have someone poke too close to the truth. I thought I was about to have the time of my life.

And then the story shifted.
It got weighed down by trying too hard to be funny.
It got repetitive.
I got... tired.

I kept waiting for the moment that would pull me back in. A twist, a choice, a spark. But it never really came. Instead, I found myself putting the book down over and over, not to savor the tension but because I was annoyed, yelling at the pages, frustrated, and disconnected.

And I don't mind unlikable characters. I don't mind messy choices. But watching Lottie unravel didn't feel thrilling or intentional. It just felt sad. You pity her. And the last thing Lottie would want you to do is pity her.

Sometimes, a book doesn't click.
Not bad, not good, just there.
And that's okay.

✨ Read This If You Like…

✨ retired (but not reformed), morally gray characters
✨ thrillers with dark humor simmering under the surface
✨ stories about aging, identity, and losing your edge
✨ small-town secrets and quiet lives that crack open
✨ messy choices… even when they don’t always make sense
✨ character-driven chaos with a slightly cozy feel

💭 What was the last story that left you feeling mid?

Thank you to @berkleypub for sending me a copy to read and review.
