End of the year book tag 2023!
Are there any books you started this year that you need to finish?
I generally don’t start books and not finish them! As a mood reader, I tend to read one at a time. I will cycle through books until I find one that I vibe with and then sit down to read that. I am currently in the middle of The Shadow of the Gods by John Gwynne and The City of Stardust (ARC) by Georgia Summers.
Do you have a snowy book to transition into the end of the year?
It is fall here currently so now is the perfect time to compile my list of wintery reads. For sure on my list are Frost by C.N. Crawford, Winterwood by Shea Ernshaw, and The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden. Pure as Snow by Laura Burton and Jessie Cal.
Is there a new release you’re still waiting for?
I would say that for this book tag question, it would have to go to the sequel of Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross, Ruthless Vows.

Two weeks had elapsed since Iris Winnow’s return home, bearing the scars of war and a heavy heart. However, the conflict still raged on, far from its conclusion. The whereabouts of Roman remained a mystery, and the city of Oath remained in a state of shock and ignorance. Presented with another opportunity to report on Dacre’s movements, Iris and Attie decided to seize it, venturing westward once more despite the looming danger. They understood that it was only a matter of time before the conflict reached an unprepared city, fractured under the rule of the chancellor.
In the depths of Dacre’s realm, Roman awoke with no recollection of his past. Yet, the promise that his memories would resurface with time led Roman to contribute articles to Dacre, uncertain of his role in the grand scheme of the war. A peculiar letter appeared at his wardrobe door, initially raising suspicion, but soon piquing his curiosity. Engaging in correspondence with this mysterious pen pal, Roman found himself at a crossroads: whether to stand by Dacre, who had healed him or to betray the deity. As the days grew darker, drawing Roman and Iris closer together, they would risk their very hearts and futures to shift the tides of the war.
What are three books you want to read before the end of the year?
This End of the Year Book Tag question is easy. One would be Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman. While I have only read one book by Hoffman The Invisible Hour *don’t forget to check out the review*. Two would be Rhapsodic by Laura Thalassa and Assassin’s Apprentice by Robin Hobb.
Is there a book you think could still shock you and become your favorite book of the year?
I would have to say Belladonna and Foxglove by Adalyn Grace. I am so scared to read these books. Not because I think that I am going to hate them. But, because I know I will love them and won’t want them to end. *tears*
Have you already started making reading plans for 2023?
One of the biggest things that I want to do is read more. I should read 100 books this year. Next year I want to read 150 books. I also want to enjoy more of what I am reading. It takes a lot for me to engage with the text. I really want to allow myself to find the books that will give me the most enjoyment versus reading and not vibing with the books.
