I Can’t Resist a Good Book Haul!

This is a post of a book haul so we are ‘hauling some books.
I hope you are well. Today I bring you my book haul. I can’t believe we’re already in September! The kids are back at school, and Fall is just around the corner, which means Halloween ???. I’m looking forward to the autumn although I am not really looking forward to the chillier days. August has been really hot here, that’s for sure! As always, I have distracted myself with books! I received some amazing books in August, and I’m excited to share my haul with you today. Let’s check it out!
Let’s start the Book Haul with something sweet
Aristotle and Dante dive into the Waters of the World by Benjamin Alire Saenz. This has been a highly anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed, multiple award-winning novels Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe is an “emotional roller coaster”. I am prepared to cry.
A book haul wouldn’t be complete without a witchy read.
Winterwood by Shea Ernshaw. When this was compared to Practical Magic I was sold. It is supposed to be a spellbinding tale of witchery, deadly secrets, and woods that hold grudges. Winterwood is immersive, atmospheric, and bewitching. It is a must-read!
The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah. I am not too much into historical fiction, but I have read a book recently (Ten Thousand Doors of January) that really made me reconsider. I loved that one and hope that I love this too.
The Kingdom of Back by Marie Lu. This is a story that I never knew I needed. I have heard that it is whimsical and thoughtful and just wonderful. I can’t wait to read this.
Verspertine by Margaret Roberson. I have heard good things about Margaret Roberson. I do own others by her but I think this will be my introduction to Roberson.
Is it a book haul without a thrift store read?
The Cursed by Thomas Wheeler. Not gonna lie I picked this book up in Dollar Tree (sometimes they have really good books, and you can’t beat the price). Then I found out it was a Netflix show and since I like to compare and contrast adaptations well let’s say it was worth it.

The Darkening by Sunya Mara. I received this book in my Fairyloot book box. It is BEAUTIFUL, the artwork, the endpapers and I am so looking forward to reading it.
Violet Made of Thorns by Gina Chen. The Fairyloot edition has an exclusive cover, ombre sprayed edges, artwork on the end pages and hardcover, a ribbon bookmark, and came with a signed bookplate. This edition is absolutely stunning and it looks great on my shelves.
The Luminaries by Susan Dennard. This is one of my most anticipated for the second half of the year. This story just sounds so immersive and I can’t wait to crack it open. I am so thankful to add this to my book haul. Thank you to the publisher, for providing me with this gifted copy.
Belladonna by Adalyn Grace. The hype around this one has made me really want to read this and I am so happy that I preordered it. And, the naked hardcover is just so beautiful for it being a “regular” edition that I picked up from Amazon. (*Swoon*)

A Book Haul wouldn’t be complete without a little magic ?
Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid. Another great one by the wonderful Taylor Jenkins Reid. A book about a party… don’t tempt me with a good time. I am there!
Book hauls need Holly Black! And, your bookshelves need this book!
Book of Night by Holly Black. Although I haven’t heard good things about this adult fantasy that hasn’t stopped me from wanting to give it a try. I will be reading this in October as a “spooky” read. I can’t wait.
Four Treasure of the Sky by Jenny Tinghui Zhang. This story is steeped in untold history and Chinese folklore, it is a spellbinding feat. I love the retellings of myths and folklore.
My Illumicrate copy arrived of Babel by R.F. Kuang. This edition comes in a slipcase with artwork printed on the hardcover, an exclusive cover, digitally sprayed edges, and bonus content, and is signed. I knew when it was announced that I wanted to get it and this edition does not disappoint. Check out my Babel Book Summary
A little mystery in the book haul… I think so!
One Step too Far by Lisa Gardner I would recommend One Step too Far, if you are a fan of Gillian Flynn’s Sharp Objects or Lianne Moriarty’s Big Little Lies. I loved Sharp Objects, and can’t wait to dive into this.
When she Disappeared by Steph Mullin. This was released on March 3rd. Available on Amazon and everywhere books are sold. If you love a good mystery/thriller, this will be right up your alley. There is a thoroughly unreliable narrator and flashbacks of the past, and it is a great page-turner. Check out my When she Disappeared by Steph Mullin: Book Review to get a good look at the book’s overview if you want to get a more in-depth view.
Next of Kin by Kia Abdulla. Next, this is a tale that we have heard many times in real life on the news. Your worst nightmare. You leave your child in the car and forget to check the back seat- that is until it is too late. This tale is gripping, tense, and explosive. Worth adding to your TBR.
Wishtress by Nadine Brandes. Finally, this was one of our most anticipated reads of the year. The plot of the tale is such a unique one. Myrthe is a Wistress. She never chose the talent but was gifted if from the previous Wishtress. When a wish she makes goes awry she journeys to the Well of Talents to correct her mistakes, and before she sheds her next tear. The story sounds so unique don’t you think? My full Wishtress review is up.
