If you’re a romance reader, especially for dark romance reads, then having a Kindle Unlimited subscription is essential. And, with thousands of books in the Kindle Unlimited library, it can be overwhelming to choose what you read next. There are so many fantastic authors, including indie authors whose work should get the shine that it deserves.
Plus, if you are a voracious reader, reading books on Kindle Unlimited will save you money in the long run.
As a KU subscriber, you can borrow up to 20 books at once. With no limit to how many books you can borrow in a month. I read 12-18 books a month. Typically alternating between Kindle reads and physical reads (because there is nothing like holding and smelling a book). If I were to buy every book I read on KU (even though I want to and do buy them sometimes) then I would be in severe credit card debt!
So this list is all about Dark Romance books on Kindle Unlimited with other genres coming soon. Please check trigger warnings because these are not tame books. Also, focusing on books that aren’t as widely known. With some known ones sprinkled in! *Side note* these were all on Kindle Unlimited at the time of posting. Books are removed and added for various reasons. Including being traditionally published, or an issue the author has with Amazon.
Enemies to Lovers
The Words by Ashley Jade

The Words isn’t a story, it is a book a time to be had. It feels like ages since I last immersed myself in a book, and the experience was oddly mixed with frustration. I couldn’t quite discern whether it was the good or the bad kind! My emotions were a whirlwind—I simultaneously loathed and relished it. But one undeniable fact: it had me glued to my seat, unable to tear myself away from the pages.
The Words is a story of love, heartache, laughter, sadness, and joy. With such layers that will keep you enveloped in the story. The story while not necessarily unique is such a good one. Told in two parts, part 1 follows them at high school where we see the breakdown of their relationship. And, part 2 is the bond they create 4 years later as adults. There is so much angst and tension between them that it is palpable.
I have a feeling this one is going to be trad published soon. Read it now while on Kindle Unlimited so you can decide to buy this cover before it goes away!

Reverse Harem
Twisted Game by Eva Ashwood

If you’re seeking a steamy romance filled with mysterious and captivating characters, then look no further. Twisted Game is tailor-made for you.
This story will grip you right from the start. Willow’s predicament—selling her innocence to fund her education—sets a thrilling tone. Then, the unexpected twist of three men thwarting the transaction with a dramatic intervention, reminiscent of a let’s say a dark knight moment. Because these men aren’t good boys. It was simply enthralling. As Willow becomes entangled with these mysterious figures, the tension escalates, fueled by undeniable chemistry. The slow burn of anticipation is immensely satisfying.
The intrigue deepens as the men, despite their sinister actions, opt to keep a watchful eye on Willow, eventually inviting her to live with them. The dynamics among the four characters crackle with intensity, promising a captivating journey ahead. And that ending! Classic Eva style, leaving us dangling on a cliffhanger edge, eager for more.
The unresolved mystery surrounding Willow’s past, the tragic fire that claimed her parents. Is just what the story needs. With each mention, it becomes increasingly clear that this event holds significance, hinting at revelations to come. After reading Twisted Game you will be eagerly anticipating the next installment.

“I’ve been staring at your lips all night. I have to know if they taste as sweet as they look.”
Den of Vipers by K.A. Knight

Den of Vipers is a book that has ruined me for all other dark romances. This is a dirty filthy mafia story that is perfection and has been my obsession for a year now!
It’s twisted, violent, intense, addictive, packed with action, and hot AF. I laughed. Cried. And, swooned. Wishing I had each of these men’s personal brand of venom coursing through my veins… maybe not “Captain Crazy” but maybe even him too.
I finished and automatically wanted to reread it.
This is the book that started my love for Kindle Unlimited. I loved it!
Ryder, Garrett, Kenzo, and Diesel—The Vipers.
Pretty Little Psycho by M. Violet

Fellow aficionados of spicy dark romance, Pretty Little Psycho is just what you need! You absolutely need to slot this book into your eerie TBR pile, pronto. ?
Picture this: three utterly unhinged psychopaths on a relentless quest for revenge, with Maureen Blackwell squarely in their crosshairs—she’s their fiery little Firecracker.
Maureen’s longing for a fresh start, a break from her haunting past, leads her to adopt her mother’s maiden name. Little does she realize, she’s just painted a target on her back.
“It’s dark, it’s dirty, and Valentin is certifiably unhinged. But damn, my rebellious side is relishing every single twisted moment of it. And the fact that he’s fully aware? It just adds fuel to the fire.”
Now, let’s be clear: this book is packed to the brim with triggers and kinks, so proceed with caution.
We’re talking family curses, age-old rivalries, spectral visitations, arcane rituals, and a town steeped in secrets—all under the tyrannical rule of three local psychos. And let’s not forget about all the deliciously depraved, spicy stuff.
With a mix of Mfmm, MM, MF, MMM, and MFM dynamics, you might want to grab an extra set of panties, because things are about to heat up in a big way.

God of Malice by Rina Kent

Killian, Killian, Killian. Killian is definitely morally black (there is no grey with him). Months after reading God of Malice, Killian still plays in my mind. He is Callous. Cold-blooded. Lifeless. A Monster. And a Psychopath.
I’m at a loss for words, honestly. There’s a part of me that wants to gush endlessly about this book, yet another part that wants to stay silent and let others discover its brilliance for themselves. It’s just that good. I found myself torn between not wanting it to end and being unable to put it down.
I will say Killian and all of the Gods are definitely not for the faint of heart. You have to be ready for darkness when you read God of Malice. But it is oh so worth it!
“Oh God.”
“That’s right baby your God. Worship at my Altar.”
Stalker
Once You’re Mine by Morgan Bridges

Pardon me while I dive headfirst into the next book of the Possessing Her duet. I simply couldn’t get enough of this one, and the craving for more hasn’t diminished one bit. It’s like the perfect blend of Haunting Adeline and the Mind F series—utterly captivating.
Hayden leads a double life: by day, a dedicated lawyer, and by night, a vigilante dispensing his own brand of justice. Frustrated by the legal system’s failings, he resorts to lethal measures when necessary. His fixation on Callie began during her father’s trial, where their paths first crossed. Despite her indifference towards him due to their opposing roles, Hayden’s interest in her only intensified over time.
Callie’s father, a senator accused of a heinous crime, evaded conviction, much to Hayden’s dismay. Consumed by a sense of injustice, Hayden took matters into his own hands, eliminating Callie’s father. His obsession with her deepened, evolving into stalking and invasive behavior that grew increasingly unsettling.
SO GOOD!

Retellings
Tasting Red by Holly Roberds

Tasting Red is an inventive reimagining of Little Red Riding Hood. This retelling adds a tantalizingly spicy twist that had me hooked from the outset. It’s a tale that stirred my senses and left me tingling with excitement—a rare gem for someone like me who revels in retellings with a twist.
Meet Scarlett, or as her friends affectionately call her, Red. She’s turned her back on the world of magic, feeling like a fish out of water in her grandmother’s mage-centric domain. Now, she’s embracing her human side, juggling college life with her job as a barmaid at the Poisoned Apple, determined to carve her own path.
Enter Brexley, a lone wolf and a hired gun. When a friend cashes in a favor, Brexley’s mission takes an unexpected turn: instead of targeting Red’s powerful grandmother, he infiltrates Red’s life with ulterior motives, seeking to exploit her to reach her elusive relative.
The narrative unfolds with a deliciously quick pace, brimming with sizzling chemistry and imaginative twists. Magic, suspense, and a dash of mischief make for an exhilarating read, underscored by themes of passion, solidarity, and the strength of female bonds. Tasting Red stands out as a refreshing and expertly crafted story that kept me thoroughly engrossed. My review of this captivating tale is entirely voluntary.
“I’m the Big Bad Wolf, baby,”
Phantom by Greer Rivers

If I haven’t convinced you yet here’s another retelling currently free on Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited.
Step into a Phantom of the Opera retelling that surpasses the original, because this time, it’s the Phantom who wins the girl! And let me tell you, he’s not your typical brooding figure—he’s a seductive, obsessive beast in a mask, ticking all the boxes for a panty-dropping, morally ambiguous anti-hero. Well, except for his first name, which, let’s be real, could use a little upgrade from Sol.
What I loved most about Sol’s character was the duality and paradoxes within him. He’s dark and cutthroat with everyone else, but when it comes to Scarlett, he’s surprisingly soft and tender, displaying a protective and possessive streak that’s downright captivating. Yet, beneath it all, there’s a hint of yearning and fear of rejection, as he grapples with revealing his true self to Scarlett.
The mafia plotline adds a touch of Romeo and Juliet-esque feuding families, which I found thoroughly enjoyable. The only aspect that veered into cringe territory for me was the abundance of music elements—seriously, humming a tune while giving a blowjob? I couldn’t tell if the author was being metaphorical or literal. Regardless, this book had me hooked from start to finish, delivering a spicy romance that electrified my senses. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
“You’re my pretty little muse, Scarlett. I worship your voice. Your body, mind, and soul are no different.”
“Even the darkness in my mind?”
“Especially the darkness.”
Billionaires
Ignited by Him by Kylie Kent

Ignited by Him is unputdownable. Ash and Breanna redefine the concept of unrequited love, weaving a tale that stands on its own, separate from their familial ties detailed in previous books.
Once Ash overcomes his obstacles and commits to a relationship with Breanna, and she in turn takes a chance on him, their bond becomes unbreakable.
But in this suspenseful love story, nothing is straightforward. The ultimate test they face is something that catches everyone off guard, even the most astute observers like Josh McKinley.
Kent keeps readers on edge with this gripping, intense, and steamy narrative. From wanting to shake some sense into the characters to experiencing waves of anger or empathy toward them, this book is simply remarkable. Dive into this captivating story at your earliest convenience.
The Revenge You Seek by Tracy Lorraine
Bully

Tracy Lorraine has officially won me over with The Revenge You Seek—I’m diving headfirst into her entire collection! Her storytelling is like a drug; once you start, you can’t get enough.
Right from the first page, I was hooked, craving answers to the myriad questions swirling in my mind. What drove Kane to seek revenge against Scarlett? And what demons haunted Scarlett for the past 18 months? Their magnetic attraction only added to the mystery.
This story oozes darkness and danger, qualities I adore in a hero. Once I started reading, the outside world ceased to exist; I was consumed by the narrative, racing through each page.
And let me tell you, when I reached the end, it was like hitting a brick wall. My Kindle nearly suffered the consequences of my eagerness to turn the nonexistent pages. I was left craving more, desperate for the next chapter of this emotional rollercoaster.
Truly, this book took me on a wild ride of emotions, and I’m counting down the days until I can immerse myself in the next installment.
“Scared, Princess?”
“Of you? Never.”
