This Year Will Be the Year of Book Hauls

Hello, bookish besties! Spring has sprung (and my sinuses are really feeling it!). Today is going to be the very long-awaited book haul! This book haul is so large I am going to have to split it into three (or more) parts. I’ve been trying to get through my HUGE backlist. But I have been adding to my TBR via book hauls. I typically don’t put myself on book-buying bans, but after this large book haul, I think I am really going to have to. But let’s get into it!
Things in the Book Haul I Purchased Myself
Seven Blades In Black by Sam Sykes
We start this book haul with an epic fantasy that introduces an unforgettable outcast mage caught between two warring empires.
Her magic was stolen. And left for dead.
Sal the Cacophony left with a few things, her name, her story, and the weapon she used to carve both. But Sal has a will stronger than magic and knows exactly where to go.
The Scar, a land torn between powerful empires, where rogue mages go to disappear, disgraced soldiers go to die and Sal went with a blade, a gun, and a list of seven names.
Revenge will be its own reward.
A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J Maas
I found one of the original covers for ACOWAR for $20 and had to snatch it up and add it to a book haul while I could! If I had a favorite series this would hold that place.
Feyre has returned to the Spring Court, determined to gather information on Tamlin’s maneuverings and the invading king threatening to bring Prythian to its knees. But to do so she must play a deadly game of deceit-and one slip may spell doom not only for Feyre but for her world as well.
As war bears down upon them all, Feyre must decide who to trust amongst the dazzling and lethal High Lords and hunt for allies in unexpected places.
If you have not read the ACOTAR (A Court of Thorns and Roses) series, please read it. And, check out the Secrets to Reading the SJM Universe
Things In The Book Haul Sent by Publishers
Beat the Devils by Josh Weiss
Next in the book haul list is Beat the Devils by Josh Weiss.
In Beat the Devils, Detective Morris Baker drowns his memories in schnapps and work, is called to the scene of a horrific double homicide. The victims are John Huston, a once?promising but now-forgotten film director, and an up?and?coming young journalist named Walter Cronkite. Clutched in the hand of one of the dead men is a cryptic note containing the phrase “beat the devils” followed by a single name: Baker. Did the two men die in an attack fueled by better-dead-than-red sentiment, as the Hueys are quick to conclude, or were they murdered in a cover-up designed to protect—or even set in motion—a secret plot connected to Baker’s past?
In a country where terror grows stronger by the day, and paranoia rises unchecked, Baker is determined to find justice for two men who raised their voices at a time when free speech comes at the ultimate cost. In the course of his investigation, Baker stumbles into a conspiracy that reaches deep into the halls of power and uncovers a secret that could destroy the City of Angels—and the American ideal itself.

The Justice of Kings by Richard Swan
I have heard nothing but good things about the Empire of the Wolf series. I knew I had to add it to this book haul!
Justice of Kings is filled with action, intrigue, and magic collide. This epic fantasy follows Sir Konrad Vonvalt, an Emperor’s Justice, who is a detective, judge, and executioner all in one—but with rebellion and unrest building, these are dangerous times to be a Justice . . .

The Tyranny of Faith by Richard Swan
A Justice’s work is never done.
The Battle of Galen’s Vale is over, but the war for the Empire’s future has just begun. Concerned by rumors that the Magistratum’s authority is waning, Sir Konrad Vonvalt returns to Sova to find the capital city gripped by intrigue and whispers of rebellion.
Yet facing down these threats to the throne will have to wait, for the Emperor’s grandson has been kidnapped – and Vonvalt is charged with rescuing the missing prince. His quest will lead him – and his allies to the southern frontier, where they will once again face the puritanical fury of Bartholomew Claver and his templar knights – and a dark power far more terrifying than they could have imagined.

the City of Dusk by Tara Sim
The realms are dying, and only the heirs can save the city – but at what cost?
The Four Realms – Life, Death, Light, and Darkness – all converge on the city of dusk. For each realm, there is a god, and for each god, there is an heir.
But the gods have withdrawn their favor from the once vibrant and thriving city. And without it, all the realms are dying.
Unwilling to stand by and watch the destruction, the four heirs-Risha, a necromancer struggling to keep the peace; Angelica, an elementalist with her eyes set on the throne; Taesia, a shadow-wielding rogue with rebellion in her heart; and Nik, a soldier who struggles to see the light- will sacrifice everything to save the city.
But their defiance will cost them dearly.

Earth Called by P.C. Cast
I had to add a P.C. Cast to this book haul. In this last installment of the Tales of a New World series, love, and goodness are put to the ultimate test as gods, humans, and animals come together to save everything they hold dear.
So that’s it! Well not really lol! There are so many more so stay tuned for part two of the book haul. Let me know in the comments what you think of part one of the book hauls. What would you like to see added to the haul?
