The White Lady by Jacqueline Winspear

We kick this list of new book releases with The White Lady by Jacqueline Winspear. In this tale we follow Elinor, she is an enigma to those who know her as she often keeps to herself, only offering a rare showing to a privileged few. As an ex-spy, Elinor has learned to keep her secrets, just that secret. But one day Elinor’s past comes to haunt her and she reluctantly finds herself facing off with one of the most dangerous organized crime gangs in London. Elinor unwittingly sets out on a treacherous path—yet it is one that leads to her freedom.
Thank you to HarperCollins for the gifted copy sent my way in order to review!
Lucha of the Night Forest by Tehlor Kay Mejia

Next up is Lucha of the Night Forest. This is an edge-of-your-seat fantasy about a girl who will do absolutely anything to protect her sister. Even if that thing means striking a dangerous deal. It is full of dark forces, forgotten magic, and heart-stopping romance that will make you fall in love with every turn of the page!
All I am going to say is:
A scorned god.
A mysterious acolyte.
A forgetting drug.
A dangerous forest.
One girl caught between the freedom she always wanted and a sister she can’t bear to leave behind.
This is such a gorgeous read! You have to add it to your TBR!
The Witch and The Vampire by Francesca Flores

Thirdly, The Witch and The Vampire. Before I get into the third book on the list of new book releases can we just talk about this cover? The colors are just so bold and complement each other so well?.
Okay, so next up is The Witch and The Vampire by Francesca Flores. This story fits squarely in the retelling category, as it is a Rapunzel retelling where a witch and a vampire who trust no one but themselves must journey together through a cursed forest. I would say it is more inspired by than a retelling. Here’s the synopsis.
Ava and Kaye used to be best friends. That is until one night two years ago. When vampires broke through the magical barrier protecting their town, killing Kaye’s mother, and turning Ava into a vampire. Since then, Ava has been trapped in her house. Desperate to escape her confinement, Ava must break out, flee to the forest, and seek help from the vampires who live there.
Kaye is at the end of her training as a Flame witch, and ready to fulfill her duty of killing any vampires that threaten the town. This includes Ava. When Ava escapes, Kaye follows her and convinces her to travel together into the forest. All the while secretly planning to turn her in. Ava agrees, hoping to rekindle their old friendship and the romantic feelings she’d started to have for Kaye before that terrible night.
But with monstrous trees that devour humans whole, vampires who attack from above, and Ava’s stepfather tracking her, the woods are full of danger. As they travel deeper into the forest, Kaye questions everything she thought she knew. The two are each other’s greatest threat?and also their only hope if they want to make it through the forest unscathed.
Thank you so much to MacMillan for a gifted copy. I can’t wait to read this!!!

Ruins Awakened by T.L. Price

Now, we are on Ruins Awakened. This is the third in the Exiled Elementals series. Per usual as it is the third in a series, I will give you the low down on the first book. Here we go:

In spite of this, ancient laws allowed her to return to civilization to battle for a seat on the guardian council. The very one that exiled her. It is only because of this law that Nhari is able to participate in the competition for a chance at a seat at the council table.
Nhari implemented the tools in her wheelhouse. Utilizing the techniques taught to her while trying to survive as one of the exiled elementals. More than anything she was the first prisoner to make it back from exile.
Nhari’s family will stop at nothing to see her dead. And with more than revenge pushing her to fight the strongest genetically engineered humans and demigods in the world. Nhari has to discover her magical elemental powers and find others of her kind. As evil spreads how will the balance of power be restored? Which side will she choose?
