Hi Besties! It is Book Review Tuesday and this week we are reviewing Darkborn Messiah by Tyler Nomax. Darkborn Messiah is a supernatural spiritual thriller that will have you wanting to read to the very end. Continue to find out more.
Genre: Sci-Fi/Fantasy
Rating: 2 stars
I’ve never read a story like Darkborn Messiah. This plot so was an interesting read, ultimately leaving me pleasantly surprised. In Darkborn Messiah we follow William Rudned. He was born to a father who was abusive, making him feel like he wasn’t good enough, and everything that he did just wasn’t right.
William’s mother was never around, not in what I can say was a neglectful sort of way, more of a way of in which she was trying to save herself from her abusive husband. Her escaping though was to the detriment of William. Behind the façade of his perfect life, with a wife and kids he adores, he is actually deeply unhappy and depressed.
One day after work, William is out having his daily smoke of a cigar pondering life by the lake when a strikingly beautiful woman appears from nowhere. Beginning the spiral of the view of life, not just William’s life but the life of humanity.
Here’s what I liked about Darkborn Messiah
I really enjoyed the journey William had to go through to understand more of the world we live in. Seeing the trauma, the experiences, and the choices made affect the world we live in. I loved the combination of genres (sci-fi and fantasy) while reviewing the critical standing of the world.
I like how fast-paced the story was. The speed is just enough to keep you reading to find out what is going to happen next. I also loved that the plot gets very dark and disturbing, leaving vivid imagery of the choices we make as humans to live our life the way that we choose.
Another plus is that although this book is short in nature it really allows you to think about the topics presented. Creating relatable moments that you possibly have considered on your own.
Here’s what could have been improved upon.

In contrast, I thought some parts dragged on, creating moments that gave the impression that they were unnecessary to the story. I disliked how confused William was ALL OF THE TIME. He didn’t know his left from his right. Whether he should be mad at Milena or be attracted to her wanting to kiss her. It gave me whiplash.
Also, the story had great potential but felt forgettable. There was no excitement or fact cementing me to the story allowing me to experience a deeper value and searing it into my mind so that I couldn’t help but feel like I needed more.
In the end, although it contains heavy topics, I think the novel really gives some new insights into topics everyone should consider, giving suggestions for potential solutions present in the tale. The story makes you rethink certain views of the world. And the fact that it is fiction makes the story more easily digestible than its fictional counterpart.
Would I recommend it?
