Hi, hello! I can’t believe it is November already. This year has been a whirlwind, and I have to say that I am truly looking forward to what 2023 will bring. Okay, so I now bring you my November TBR. There were a few books I adored and there was some meh reading in October (check out my October recap here), just not hitting on all cylinders. I’m really hoping November will turn out slightly better. I have 13 books planned for this month. Let’s talk about them.
Physical Books/ARCs TBR
An Incarnation of Shadow and Light by S.A. Christianson (ARC)
This dark fantasy is a tale of the Kingdom of Verchiél where only a handful of people known as Incarnate can use magic. The Incarnate are equally feared as they are respected, simply considered gods. But when the rulers of Verchiél’s unexpected death happens, it unleashes a power struggle between the four Incarnate, with each seeking power to fulfill their own desires.
I absolutely can’t wait to read this, it sounds so good. This will be released on November 8th. Thank you to the author for sending me a copy in order to review.
Throne of Glass Series by Sarah J. Maas
Specifically Heir of Fine, The Assassin’s Blade, and Queen of Shadows this month.
Her name is Celaena Sardothien – beautiful, deadly, and destined for greatness. When magic has gone from the world, by a vicious king who rules from his throne of glass, an assassin comes to the castle.
She does not come to kill, but instead to win her freedom. If she can defeat twenty-three killers, thieves, and warriors in a competition to find the greatest assassin in the land, she will become the king’s champion and earn her freedom. But as dark forces gather on the horizon forces that threaten to destroy her entire world Celaena must fight to protect everything she holds dear.
The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern
While this one is a re-read. It is one of my absolute favorite stories of all time!
Zachary Ezra Rawlins is a graduate student in Vermont when he discovers a mysterious book hidden in the stacks. As he turns the pages, entranced by tales of lovelorn prisoners, key collectors, and nameless acolytes, he reads something strange: a story from his own childhood.
Bewildered by this book Zachary uncovers a series of clues—a bee, a key, and a sword—that lead him to a masquerade party in New York, to a secret club, and through a doorway to an ancient library hidden far below the surface of the earth. What Zachary finds in this curious place is more than just a buried home for books and their guardians—it is a place of lost cities and seas, lovers who pass notes under doors and across time, and stories whispered by the dead.
Skyward Series by Brandon Sanderson
This, along with the Mistborn series will be my first Brandon Sanderson work. I’ve gotten so many recommendations I had to add it to my TBR!
Spensa’s world has been under attack for decades. Now pilots are the heroes of what’s left of the human race, and becoming one has always been Spensa’s dream. Since she was a little girl, she has imagined soaring skyward and proving her bravery. But her fate is intertwined with her father’s–a pilot himself who was killed years ago when he abruptly deserted his team, leaving Spensa’s chances of attending flight school at slim to none.
No one will let Spensa forget what her father did, yet fate works in mysterious ways. Flight school might be a long shot, but she is determined to fly. And an accidental discovery in a long-forgotten cavern might just provide her with a way to claim the stars.
Mistborn: The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson
A thousand years, the ash fell and no flowers bloomed. For a thousand years, the Skaa slaved in misery and lived in fear. For a thousand years the Lord Ruler, the “Sliver of Infinity,” reigned with absolute power and ultimate terror, divinely invincible.
Then, when hope was so long lost that not even its memory remained, a terribly scarred, heartbroken half-Skaa rediscovered it in the depths of the Lord Ruler’s most hellish prison. Kelsier “snapped” and found in himself the powers of a Mistborn. A brilliant thief and natural leader, he turned his talents to the ultimate caper, with the Lord Ruler himself as the mark.
But even with the best criminal crew ever assembled, Kel’s plan looks more like the ultimate long shot, until luck brings a ragged girl named Vin into his life. Like him, she’s a half-Skaa orphan, but she’s lived a much harsher life. Vin has learned to expect betrayal from everyone she meets and gets it. She will have to learn to trust if Kel is to help her master powers of which she never dreamed.
Zodiac Academy: The Awakening by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti
This is a dark, bully romance – please don’t go expecting a sweet school for magic with friends around every corner. The Fae fight for everything they own and Zodiac Academy is a cutthroat school for students aged 18+ where only the strongest prevail.
There’s no Dumbledore here to save anyone’s ass and Lionel Acrux will give Voldemort a run for his money in the evil dictator category. So hold onto your stardust and get ready for a bumpy ride
But of course, there’s a catch-all I have to do to claim my birthright and prove that I’m the most powerful supernatural in the whole of Solaria. And sure, technically that’s true as I’m the daughter of the Savage King. But the bit they didn’t put in the brochure was that every single Fae in this Kingdom would claim my throne if they could.

One year ago, Isabelle Drake’s life changed forever: her toddler son, Mason, was taken out of his crib in the middle of the night while she and her husband were asleep in the next room. With little evidence and few leads for the police to chase, the case quickly went cold. However, Isabelle cannot rest until Mason is returned to her. Literally.

The Tidings of Misfits (ARC) by Jordan Dugdale
