Synopsis
He calls me perfect.
His flawless pet.
His good girl.
Broken down and wounded by my emotionally neglectful ex, I wanted someone to tell me I was good enough.
Then, I stumbled into a new job with a boss who brought me to my knees— literally. He has me do things a real secretary would never do.
Emerson Grant tells me I’m more than just good enough.
I’m worthy of his praise.
There are a million reasons why I should stay away. The owner of the Salacious Players’ Club is not just my new boss, he’s twice my age.
And my ex-boyfriend’s father.
With him, I am treasured. I am adored. I am his.
I’m a good girl, but I’m falling for the wrong man.
Emerson Grant knows what he wants—
And he wants me.
So how far will I go to hear his approval?
Giving Praise for Praise
While I may have read Age Gap romance tropes in books before nothing stands out at the moment. If this trope bothers you, you might not enjoy this book.
“You are such a good girl,” he says, and I nearly melt into the floor.”
In Praise, we follow Charlotte (Charlie), when Charlie and her boyfriend Beau break up it starts an onslaught of occurrences one of which is meeting Emerson Grant. Emerson turns out to be Beau’s father. So, when Charlie goes to pick up her half of their deposit check Emerson he may have accidentally taken her for his new sub.
Charlie does what he asks without questions, and Emerson loves that. There’s an immediate connection between the two. Charlie can’t stop thinking about the encounter with Emerson, and when he offers her a job as his secretary the fun begins. Her role as regular secretary turns into exploring the curiosity that has sparked within her about the Dom/Sub role. But what’s more, because Emerson is her ex-boyfriend’s father they can never let anyone know what is going on between them. If Beau was to ever find out, it could be bad, like real bad. Emerson might struggle to mend his relationship with his son.
“I’m addicted to you,” he groans while fucking me. “You were made for me, Charlotte. You’re mine, and I never want to let you go. Do you understand me? I’d fuck you forever if I could.”
I devoured this book, forcing myself to put it down because I was completely hooked. I loved Emerson and Charlie together. Charlie is young, and curious wanting to learn about Emerson’s world. Sparking something in her that wants her to give herself over fully. Emerson, I am obsessed with him. All I can think is UGH DADDY! He doesn’t say everything right at the right time, but despite that, he is the perfect counterbalance to Charlie. He is loving and possessive (in the best way).
I have been thinking about rereading Praise since the last sentence ended and every moment since. It is SOOOO GOOOD. My favorite scenes include the auctioning of Charlie and how Emerson handles the situation. And, when he realizes he messed up completely he tries to rectify the situation fully (we love a man that stands on business). I swooned, I laughed, I teared up. It was PERFECTION. There is a lot of spice in this book between Charlie and Emerson, and I could not get enough of it.
“I’m yours and you’re mine.”
Praise is fast-paced and well-written, unlocking a praise kink with its smooth flow. Now that I have unlocked “Cate Gate”, Praise is just the beginning. I will not rest until I have devoured all of her books.
Overall, Praise gets five stars, and it has officially hit my favorites list. Kindle Unlimited comes in the clutch (it is currently on KU). At this point, there must be a new paperback copy as a trophy (model cover me please). And I need it on audio to have a new experience. If you haven’t yet read Praise (and don’t stop there)!
Happy Reading Readers
